Owner occupied
The owners of the home at 411 Day Avenue watched it being renovated. They explained, “We came to see the houses on Miller’s Hill on a whim. We had found out about the program from various contractors, and that piqued our interest. We were able to see plans for three of the other houses on the street. We watched, and as soon as we could get in, we toured 411. The walls weren’t even in and we fell in love! It felt like home. As the house progressed we grew more interested. We thought about the project and we each drove by the house without the other knowing it, only to confess to each other later! We finally decided to sell our old house and we closed on 411 just before Christmas, 2006.”
When asked about the neighborhood, 411’s owners replied, “Our main draw to the community was spiritual. We work closely with the Acts 2 Ministry, which reaches inner city kids. We wanted to be close to the children that we work with. We also had rejoined First Baptist Church (a mere block and a half away). The programs offered at the church are great for our seven year old son, and the family enjoys Pastor Smith’s style of ministry and his delivery of the message. We also want to join the YMCA when time allows – we have visited on family swim night and it was great. And we enjoy walking the dogs down to the market and back. It’s a great fit here. We really feel at home!”
